We Say: Fun and slightly funky notes of mushroom, moss, soil and strawberry-fruit leather jump off the nose of this Montepulciano from the so-called “oven of Abruzzo” made just under the southernmost glacier in the northern hemisphere. The palate stitches all of this together but adds crunchy red berries—from strawberries to raspberries to cherries—and a just a hint of coriander seed that join easy going tannins and a perceptible but not overpowering backbone of acid for a pleasurable expression of the grape and its native region.
