Drappier Carte d'Or Brut is the signature cuvée from Champagne Drappier, a family-run house founded in 1808 and based in Urville, in the Côte des Bar. The estate is known for its pioneering use of Pinot Noir in the region and its commitment to sustainable viticulture, including low-sulphur winemaking and minimal intervention. The Carte d'Or is nearly a Blanc de Noirs, with a high proportion of Pinot Noir that gives it richness and depth.
This Champagne is crafted using only the first pressing (the “cuvée”), with 40% reserve wines and 5% matured in oak casks. It undergoes full malolactic fermentation and is bottled without filtration. The result is a vinous, complex Champagne with a distinctive note of quince jelly and stone fruits. It was reportedly a favourite of General Charles de Gaulle.
